Knoxville contestant Antone Davis shares his dieting secrets after being on "The Biggest Loser" in 2011.

Going to lunch with "Biggest Loser" runner-up Antone Davis — a West Knoxville resident — means slim pickings.

He's a salad kind of guy these days. He's around 240 pounds. So there's no Cheese Danish or sodas.

And there's definitely no fast food drive through for a meal. Davis tries to eat no more than 3,000 calories a day.

He's worked hard to drop from nearly 400 pounds, and Davis, a former Vols offensive tackle, isn't about to let a little temptation eat at him.

Davis doesn't deny himself everything. He'll lap up a cupcake occasionally — and, yes, he goes for the frosting first.

"I do one every now and then," Davis says with a laugh. "I know it's bad for me, but it's so good."

His 90-minute daily workout helps him burn through some of those cupcake calories. He also says he goes on "extra long walks."

If he does gain weight, he feels the effects. "I feel a little wobbly," he says. "I know that sounds strange."

He drinks water and, in about 30 minutes, that strange physical feeling goes away.

Before "Loser," he was eating around 7,000 calories a day. His mornings always include a breakfast — typically an omelet, three egg whites and one whole egg with vegetables.

"I'll have some strawberries, blueberries or an orange," Davis says.

He'll snack if he feels the need. "Lately, I haven't," he says.

Lunch, which would be around 500 calories, includes chicken and fruit.

If he dines out for dinner, he's careful about where he goes and how it is prepared. He prefers fish or chicken for dinner and tries to have broccoli on the side.

He carries protein bars around in case he feels famished.

"I really don't think about food that much anymore," he says.

Davis is working on more than a diet plan. He's building his future. Currently unemployed full time, he makes some ends meet with paid appearances and speaking to groups.

When talking to school groups, he addresses "healthy choices" for them.

He's about to launch antonedavis.com, where fans can ask him questions. Not a trainer or a nutritionist, Davis is merely offering tips based on his own experience.

"When (I) was on the show, I was so (shielded) that people couldn't find (me)," he says, "so I started this website to talk to them and answer any questions they have."

His passion has always been for coaching. As a former professional player, Davis wants to be behind-the-scenes now. His dream job: working on the staff for the Vols.

"It's hard to walk into a coaching job at a Division One level," he says, "but I do think I have what it takes to do it."

He has also "planted a seed" with the producers to bring him aboard to be a "guest trainer" on "Loser." "I'd love to go back for season to see how (the new contestants) are doing and maybe help them along," Davis says.

His biggest problem prior to "Loser," he says, was "eating out of habit" or when he was bored. Davis used to always do the drive-through at Taco Bell late in the afternoon because it had become a habit.

"I don't miss it," he says of those drive-through days.

And when he does fall off the wagon, "I feel guilty for a day or two."
