Pellissippi State boasts 3D paper art exhibit

A former adjunct art professor at Pellissippi State Community College is displaying her three-dimensional paper art in a monthlong exhibit at the Bagwell Center for Media and Art gallery on the college's main campus.

Lauren Kussro, who taught drawing during the 2008-09 school year, will showcase her art in an exhibit titled "Delightful Minutiae" through Feb. 8.

Krusso, in her artist statement, describes her work as "building my own colonies of forms" that explore "the importance of community."

"Our relational interactions with others are probably the most important and rewarding things we will invest in during our lives," she writes.

Krusso has showcased her work in group and solo exhibitions in 10 states, Washington, D.C. and New Delhi, India. She will follow her exhibit at Pellissippi State with another show at Vanderbilt University's Sarratt Gallery.

Krusso earned her bachelor of fine arts degree in 2003 from Indiana University's Herron School of Art and Design.

She received her master's of fine arts with a concentration of printmaking from the University of Tennessee.

Her exhibit in the Bagwell Center is free and open to the public from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays or by appointment. A closing reception, also open to the community, will be from 3-5 p.m. on Feb. 8.
