Megan Fox recently visited her home turf of East Tennessee with her husband, Brian Austin Green. The two did the tourist thing in Gatlinburg.
Actress Megan Fox made a rare trip back to her East Tennessee roots over the recent holidays — and did the whole tourist thing in the Smoky Mountains.
Fox and her husband, former "Desperate Housewives" and "Beverly Hills, 90210" star Brian Austin Green, were part of a family gathering in Gatlinburg. Their party rented a cabin and visited some of the local haunts — literally.
Among the spots their particular party of six visited was Ghost & Haunted Tours, in which guests get up close to reportedly haunted places. Though the attraction was closed for the season, it reopened when Fox called and asked if she and her family could get a personal tour.
"They were very gracious," says Suzette Boutilier, sales and marketing director for Ghost & Haunted Tours.
Fox found out about the amusement through an advertisement and thought it looked interesting, Boutilier says.
Green's child was not around, but Fox's father, Franklin Fox, who lives in the area, was with them.
Megan Fox was born in Oak Ridge and spent a lot of time in Kingston. Her mother, Darlene, was active in the community before she and Megan moved to Florida.
In a previous interview, Fox spoke glowingly to me about her childhood in East Tennessee, recalling that a big treat for her then was accompanying her parents to West Knoxville and eating at Hardee's.
Of Fox, Boutilier says, "she's beautiful. Her family is very beautiful."
Fox is considered one of Hollywood's biggest sex symbols and frequently appears on "Hot" lists of men's magazines, including Maxim and FHM.
Her acting credits include the horror flick "Jennifer's Body" and the sci-fi box office smash "Transformers" and its first sequel (with Shia LaBeouf).
But in Gatlinburg Fox was just another tourist, says Boutilier. While on the 90-minute tour of Gatlinburg's reportedly spooky spots, Fox and friends got chilly and stepped into a shop off the Parkway for some hot chocolate.
A young male fan noticed Fox and pointed out the starlet to the people around him, Boutilier says. Other than that, "most people left us alone," she says, noting Gatlinburg was fairly deserted that night anyway.
Fox asked about hiking trails and showed an interest in doing more around the area. "She's a darling person," Boutilier says.
