Knoxville musicians and friends will gather in honor of local musician and News Sentinel artist Chris Armstrong in a benefit concert on Monday, July 16, at Mulligan's.
Armstrong died on July 2. A native of Kingsport, Armstrong played in the band Disturbing the Peace, before moving to Knoxville. In Knoxville, he performed with The Retroholics, Pineda and Dream On Alice.
Armstrong was a beloved figure both in the Knoxville music scene and at the News Sentinel. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Maddox Armstrong and daughters Makenzie, 9, and Kendall, 2.
Artists performing at the benefit include Jason Ellis, Freequency, JD Cable, Ray Pineda, Trace Taylor, Scott Connatser, Phil Watts, Michael Essex, Scott Houston, Members of Plan-9, Greg Johnson, Dream On Alice, Hardwire, Nashville Mike and Rich Killingsworth.
Money raised from the event will be donated to Armstrong's family.
The show begins at 6 p.m. Mulligan's is located at 8923 Linksvue Drive.
