Ian Hultquist of the band Passion Pit (second from right) says he "loves sound, in general," so he's happy to try and recreate the sounds that singer-songwriter Michael Angelakos (center) comes up with in the studio: "I'm happy to produce any sound whatsoever, but it is really fun to have to come up with these really massive sounds for Passion Pit. Especially with this new album, there's so much happening." The band takes it's name from a 1950s slang term for drive-in movie theaters.
The electro-pop band Passion Pit, which was scheduled to perform on July 17, has rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Valarium.
Just before the Knoxville show, the group canceled six concerts planned for the remainder of July, including the Knoxville show.
At the time of the cancellation, website Michael Angelakos, lead singer-songwriter of the band, posted the following letter:
"On behalf of the band and myself, I would like to greatly apologize for the show cancellations. In order for me to ensure that there will be no further disruptions, I am going to take the time to work on improving my mental health. For now, I'd like to thank all of our fans for their understanding. I hope to see all of you very soon in a much different light."
Angelakos has suffered from some mental problems in the past. The band's official bio discusses Angelakos checking into a psychiatric facility in 2010.
Tickets for the show are $28 advance (plus service fees), $30 at the door and are available via the valarium.com, at Planet Xchange, and by phone at 865-244-4266. Tickets are on sale 10 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012.
