Dolly Parton set the record straight on "Nightline" on Monday night, as she sat down for an interview to promote her new memoir "Dream More." Parton denied longstanding rumors that she is romantically involved with her childhood friend Judy Ogle, and said she'd discussed the issue with Oprah Winfrey, who's battled a similar rumor surrounding her relationship with friend Gayle King.
"We do talk about that," Parton said. "Gayle, her friend, Judy, my friend - they just think that you just can't be that close to somebody. Judy and I have been best friends since we were like in the third and fourth grade. I mean, I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we're not romantically involved."

How sad that we have come to a point that having a lifelong friend of the same sex makes someone jump to homosexuality questions. I suppose it is a good thing I fell out of touch with some childhood friends, lest our sexual preferences be called into question just because we are both male. Sigh. Can't we all just be friends, and keep our junk in our pants?
