Regal Cinemas has pinned comedic actor Kevin James for its 2012 Variety — The Children’s Charity of Eastern Tennessee benefit, set for Monday, Oct. 1, executives announced Thursday.
Over the years the annual event, which helps various programs and projects for children across the region, has generated more than $5 million in East Tennessee.
Tickets are $50 and go on sale Wednesday at the Regal Pinnacle Stadium 18 & IMAX in Turkey Creek. The box office opens at 11 a.m.
Ticket holders will be treated to a catered reception at the theater. The reception will begin at 6 p.m.
James, 47, will get a red carpet greeting and mingle with fans. After the reception, attendees will screen the actor’s new film, “Here Comes The Boom,” which opens in theaters Oct. 12. In the family friendly movie, James plays a former college wrestler who is now a teacher at a high school with big financial problems. He joins a mixed martial arts championship to keep his school afloat.
Salma Hayek also stars.
Best known for his CBS series “The King of Queens,” James’ other movie credits include “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” “Grown Ups,” “The Dilemma” and “Zookeeper.”
“Regal is honored to host Kevin James at this benefit screening,” Regal president Greg Dunn is quoted as saying in a release. “We sincerely thank Sony Pictures for making this possible.”
