Country star George Strait will appear in Knoxville as part of his "Cowboy Rides Away" tour. Strait has said the two-year tour will be his last major tour. Strait will perform on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Thompson-Boling Arena with opening act Martina McBride.
Strait is one of country music's most successful artists, having more Number 1 hits than any other country artist. He has also received more nominations and wins in the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards than any other artist.
Strait said he will continue recording and playing selected dates after the end of upcoming tour, but will do no more national tours.
Tickets for the show are $89.50 and $69.50 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Knoxville Tickets outlets, 865-656-4444 and www.knoxvilletickets.com.
