It’s a Saturday afternoon on WDVX’s “Blue Plate Special” and Red Shoes and Rosin are on the stage. The three women, Shawna Cyphers, Meade Armstrong and Jessica Watson, perform a winning combination of old-time string band music with a modern bent. Typically, Cyphers and Armstrong are on fiddle and Watson is on guitar or banjo. Sometimes Cyphers plays guitar and all sing. One of the first questions audiences want to know is, “Where are your red shoes?” “People always want to know that,” the members say collectively, a few days later while sitting at Remedy coffee shop in the Old City.
