The musical “Mary Poppins” flies into the Tennessee Theatre for eight shows March 5-10.
The story of the magical nanny with the dancing chimney sweep friend isn’t a repeat of the Disney film that so many children have watched since it premiered in 1964.
This is a combination of parts of that story, as well as nine of its songs, as well as some parts from the original books about the magical nanny. There’s also some new story lines, new songs and even a nanny villain of sorts.
“Mary Poppins” is part of the “Broadway at the Tennessee” series.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 5-7, 8 p.m. March 8, 2 and 8 p.m. March 9 and 1 and 6:30 p.m. March 10. Tickets are at www.tennesseetheatre.com and are, before service charges, $37, $52, $67 or $77 for all ages.
