The nominees are in!
At 8:38 and 30 seconds this morning (now that's specific!), Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone announced the nominations for the 85th annual Academy Awards, set to air Sunday, Feb. 24 on ABC.
There were a few surprises: Quvenzane Wallis snagged a best actress nom for "Beasts of the Southern Wild" (making her the youngest nominee ever), and Kathryn Bigelow did not receive a Best Director nod for "Zero Dark Thirty." No surprise was the number of nods for "Lincoln," which snagged 12 nominations.
Beyond the snubs and surprises, the nominations have brought about a mental to-do list: What movies must I see before the Oscar telecast? High on my list are "Django Unchained," "Life of Pi" and "Silver Linings Playbook." (Happened to catch "Beasts of the Southern Wild" last weekend. ... It's terrific!)
So, what are you dying to see? "Lincoln"? "Zero Dark Thirty" (opening in K-town Friday)? "Amour" (set for release in Knoxville on Feb. 15)? Choose an answer in our poll to the left or leave a thought in the comments field below.
