One of Knoxville's favorite adopted sons, Scott Miller is set to perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay St. Playing with his band The Commonwealth, Miller will be joined by opening act the Paul Thorn Band.
Tickets for the show are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets go on sale Friday (May 24).
The Bijou website says of Miller: "No stranger to Knoxville, Scott Miller became a Friday night staple at the now-defunct Hawkeye's bar for four years and amassed a strong fan base for his feisty, funny persona and his guitar slingin' homespun appeal. Miller was raised on a cattle farm in Virginia, where he plans to return before too long, and he writes songs full of rural imagery."
On Thorn: "Paul Thorn's muscular brand of roots music -- bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern -- speaks universal truths. Thorn draws influence from his experiences of growing up with a Church of Christ Pentecostal minister for a father and an uncle that was a pimp and mines these "saint and sinner scenarios" into his definitive rock n' roll, Americana sound."
