Thirty years ago Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers sang together on the No. 1 duet "Islands in the Stream," and now the pair are set to release a brand new collaboration.
The singers team up on the title track for Rogers' forthcoming album "You Can't Make Old Friends," set for release on Oct. 8 from Warner Bros. Records.
In a publicity statement announcing the album, Rogers says, "What a thrill it was for me to work again with my buddy Dolly Parton, and what a special song. ... Working with Dolly is always a little like going home. Everything felt comfortable."
"Islands in the Stream" remains one of the all-time most popular duets.
To promote the new album, Rogers has will embark on a tour that includes a Sept. 25 stop at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
