Arts agencies to get highest funding in 16 years

The National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities are expected to receive their highest levels of funding in 16 years from a bill President Barack Obama is expected to sign into law by this weekend. Both cultural agencies were slated to receive $167.5 million for the 2010 fiscal year. Last year’s budget allocated $155 million. Full story »

Fans scrambled to see 3-D movies such as “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” in theaters this year and new 3-D televisions could soon have home viewers feeling as if they’re surrounded by a spaghetti hurricane on their couches. Next year major electronics manufacturers Sony Corp. and Panasonic Corp. plan to introduce 3-D-capable high-definition televisions for the mass market.
