The Athens Area Council for the Arts was chartered as a non-profit organization in 1979. From that time forward, AACA has served as the core organization dedicated to the enhancement of the cultural life of the community. Throughout its 27 year history, AACA has brought hundreds of artists from all over the world to perform in the community and to work with school children and teachers in all areas of the arts. Governed by a Board of Directors, the organization is led by a full time executive director, three-quarter time program director, and part-time clerical staff, and a host of volunteers. Offices are located in the Arts Center at 320 N. White Street.
