Farragut High School is a public, coeducational college-preparatory grade 9-12 high school. It is at 11237 Kingston Pike in Farragut. The school is in close proximity of Interstate 40, Pellissippi Parkway and Concord Road.
Farragut High School’s original building was constructed in 1904, across the street from its current location. The school moved to its current building in 1977. The school, like the town of Farragut itself, is named after Union Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, who famously defeated the Confederates at the Battle of Mobile Bay.
Farragut High is attended by approximately 2,100 students. Its feeder middle schools are Farragut and West Valley.
The school prides itself on its academic rigor. Farragut offers 25 Advanced Placement courses, more than any other public school in Knox County. Farragut also offers six languages: French, German, Spanish, Russian, Latin and English Second Language. Arts courses include ceramics, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture and art history. The school has a Navy ROTC program. Vocational courses include computer maintenance, criminal justice, accounting and marketing.
Students at Farragut compete in a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball and tennis. The school mascot is the admiral.
