Patrick Birmingham is the president and publisher of the Knoxville News Sentinel and has regional responsibilities for the Evansville (IN) Courier Press and Anderson (SC) Independent-Mail. He was publisher at the Scripps-owned Corpus Christi Caller-Times from 2004 until his move to Knoxville in October 2009. The Caller-Times was named “newspaper of the year” by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors for the last four years of Birmingham’s tenure.
Birmingham began his career at the Kansas City Star in advertising sales and management. Prior to joining Scripps, he served in advertising leadership roles with Gannett newspapers in Rochester, N.Y., and Cincinnati, Ohio. His first post with Scripps was in 1997 as advertising director of the Ventura County Star. He later became the paper's executive vice president and general manager.
He and his wife, Missy, have two children, Patrick and Lauren.
