Written on Grub Scout: Tamales take center stage at Knoxville Center mall :

in response to whstoneman:

I wouldn't go to East Town Mall if the food and/or merchandise was free. I refer to the hovel as East Town Mall since that is the last time I was there. Change the name, but you can't change the danger.

You might be surprised to know that crime at West Town Mall is rising at a much faster rate than Knoxville Center. In fact, crime at Knoxville Center has actually dropped every year since 2008.

Written on Lemonheads to play Bijou in March:

I love that album. Brings back a ton of memories from the early 90's.

Written on The Insider: Love Kitchen on 'Oprah' brings tears, mystery gift :

Glee has got to be one of the worst shows I've ever seen on TV. It's 2011, people! It's not 1965 anymore.

Written on UT grad to represent Puerto Rico in Miss America Pageant:

Hmmm... If she wins, she'd be the first Miss America that doesn't even live in America. LOL

Written on Does Knoxville have an identity problem?:

What is Lexington's identity? What is Charlotte's? What is Jacksonville's? What is Louisville's?

It's not just Knoxville. Most mid-sized cities don't have that one word or phrase that identifies them to the rest of the nation. And I like it that way!

Written on Morrow: Local 'Loser' finalist Ashley Johnston comes home in episode tonight:

I actually saw Ashley at Barley's in the Old City. For the record, she was drinking a glass of water. Good for you, Ashley!

Written on All Decked Out: Downtown merry and bright for Christmas in the City :

I give it a couple more years before the ACLU tries to get the name changed to "Holidays in the City".

Written on Reed: Skybox at the Sunsphere bar stirs nightlife imagination:

A friend of mine was in town visiting from Denver. I took him to the Sky Bar and he absolutely loved it! He said it rivals anything downtown Denver has to offer in the way of atmosphere and price.

I hope it does well!

Written on Michael Jackson's death brings cheering at Sundown:

Keep in mind that most Sundown attendees are high schoolers. I wasn't there, but I'd be willing to bet the majority of people cheering at the news of Michael Jackson's death were teens. It's sort of the same mentality of cheering when someone drops their lunch tray in the cafeteria.

It has nothing to do with The South or Knoxville itself... it has everything to do with teens.
