Clint Eastwood said: "It's halftime America. And our second half's about to begin."

Jay Leno said: "It may be halftime in America, but China's got the ball and we're down by 16 trillion."

Written on Sly Stone: Homeless in L.A. is only part of the funk icon’s story:

I'm a fan of Sly & the Family Stone, but I viewed the video and Sly looks and sounds like he's so far gone he may need the full-time help of a mental health facility. There is so much damage he will never recover.

It's very sad.

He reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne, without the family structure to support him.

Young people, let this be a lesson in what your brain looks like on drugs.

Written on Soul music star Sly Stone homeless, living in camper in L.A. :

Shocking.

Sly & The Family Stone has four albums in the Rolling Stone "Top 500 albums of all time" list, all positioned in the top 200. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

They were terrific. I have six of their albums. Who can forget the albums "There's A Riot Goin' On", "Stand", or "Flesh"?

You would think Sly would be collecting enough money from royalties to live a comfortable life. They even released an album in August of this year, "I'm Back! Family & Friends".

Google "Sly & the Family Stone wiki" and read about the sad demise of Sly. It's the drugs, all about the drugs.

The headline threw me for a minute -- I thought the NY democrat was back to campaigning again.

Written on Sam and Andy's:

By the way the Sam & Andy's I am reviewing is at 11110 Kingston Pike Suite 165 Knoxville (near Farragut). I've never been to the Fountain City location (4813 N Broadway Street).

Written on Sam and Andy's:

I love Sam & Andy's. It's retro-chic. I've eaten there probably a couple of dozen times. It's so old-fashioned. You order, eat, and go up to the counter to pay afterwards, telling the friendly employee what you had (no credit cards). Unlimited drink refills too.

Their Vol burgers are terrific -- I can't speak for most of the other menu items because the burgers are so good I never wanted to eat anything else.

Lots of nostalgic UT sports pictures and UT paraphernalia on the walls. A very local-oriented place; the antithesis of a chain restaurant.

I guess he was thinking like a Kennedy -- figured he'd 'cross that bridge when he gets to it'.

In his new strategy Ah-nold is sure write a tell-all book and make millions from his sexcapades.

Written on Keith Olbermann and MSNBC: a failing relationship :

Sounds like "Keith Olbermann: Countdown to Zero Ratings" has finally finished counting.

Anyway his replacement Rachel Madcow is already proving she is just as incompetent -- she just said the Strategic Defense Initiative would never work because you can't shoot a missile out of the sky with another missile.

Written on Mixing it up with Ted Nugent, who's back on the road:

The man is a legend, both for his rock n' roll guitar work and for his views on the second amendment.

My favorite Ted Nugent interview, with Texas Monthly Talks.

Classic Ted!

First Elton, who is surely the greatest living musician, plays Rush's wedding, and now comes through for the only democracy in the mideast, Israel!

Rock on Elton!!!

What a coincidence, this same exact scenario happened there the last time I went to an all-night recital of 'Beethoven: Concerto for violin in D'.

"Love. Sex. Homicide. This must be opera!...Or, at least, last generation's rock 'n' roll version of it, when you throw in drugs."
